Bayport's George Nolan Sworn Into NY Judgeship

He previously served as counsel to the Suffolk County Legislature.

George Nolan, counsel to the Suffolk County Legislature, was sworn into the 10th Supreme Court district.

Nolan, 60, of Bayport, who ran on the Democratic, Conservative and Independence lines, was elected in November even though he was tapped last minute to run for Suffolk County Clerk.

Nolan served as the Suffolk County Legislative Counsel before being nominated for Clerk, which was an attempt to allow Presiding Officer DuWayne Gregory get off the Working Families Party line for Congress - a common move when candidates with minor-party lines lose primaries.

Gregory then filled a vacancy for a judicial candidate, and then he was replaced by Nolan.
