Child On Bike Struck By Car In Sayville

It happened Thursday morning, police say.

SAYVILLE, NY – An 11-year-old boy was struck by a car while attempting to cross Montauk Highway on his bike Thursday morning, police said.

According to Suffolk Police, a man was driving a Toyota sedan west on Montauk Highway at Benson Avenue at 9 a.m. when his vehicle struck the boy. The child was transported to Southside Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

There is a crosswalk at the intersection where the boy was struck, but police did not say whether the boy was in it or not at the time of the crash. No criminal charges have been filed.
