DePompeo Receives Pre-Season Lacrosse Honors
2009 Sayville graduate named Patriot League Preseason Offensive Player of the Year at Navy.
With the women’s college lacrosse season about to begin, Sayville’s Jasmine DePompeo of Navy has been named the Patriot League’s Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. She is the second Midshipman to earn league all-preseason honors.
The honor follows DePompeo being named as the league’s 2011 Offensive Player of the Year and the league tournament’s Most Valuable Player. She was third in the country in scoring with 57 goals and 99 total points and received All-American honors from WomensLax.com.
In the 2011 Patriot League title game, DePompeo played a key role in Navy’s comeback win. With her team trailing Colgate 14-10 she scored three goals and added an assist in the game’s final 15 minutes to lead the Midshipmen to a 15-14 victory.

Now in her junior year, DePompeo is a key cog in Navy’s potent attack. The team was voted as the 2012 preseason favorite to win a third straight Patriot League title. Navy will open the 2012 season at High Point on February 11 and will host William & Mary in its league opener on February 15.
A 2009 graduate of Sayville High School, DePompeo was a three-sport athlete and a five-year letter-winner in lacrosse. She was All-County for three years and All-League for four years. In her senior year, she led Sayville’s girls lacrosse team to a 16-4 record and a county championship. That same season she scored 76 goals and was named a US Lacrosse Academic All-American.
