Firefighters Put Out Car Fires, Stop From Spreading Into Woods

Firefighters extinguished multiple car fires in a parking lot and stopped the blaze from spreading into the woods.

The Bohemia Fire Department responded to a parking lot with multiple cars on fire along Sunrise Highway on Sunday.

No one was injured when multiple cars caught on fire in a parking lot at Performance Automotive on Sunrise Highway near Oakdale-Bohemia Roadaround 12:15 p.m. on Sunday.

"The fire was spreading through the brush and to fences bordering the parking lot. Chief O'Neil of Bohemia directed West Sayville Engine's to stop the fire at the fence line and to keep it from spreading to neighboring property and houses. While Bohemia FD, with the help of the Lakeland Fire Department extinguished the cars, West Sayville held the line and no other property, (aside from the fence) was damaged.," according to the West Sayville Fire Department.

The cause of fire is being investigated, fire officials said.
