GoFundMe Launched For Family Of LI Teen Police Say Was Shot, Killed By Ex-Boyfriend, 17: 'Sorely Missed'
"To know Emily is to love her."
NESCONSET, NY — A GoFundMe has been launched to support the family of Emily Finn, 18, of West Sayville, who police said was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend at his Nesconset home Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to the home on Shenandoah Boulevard North at around 11:10 a.m. after the teen’s father called 911, Suffolk County police said.
Finn was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The 17-year-old ex-boyfrined, whose name is being withheld because of his age, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical but stable condition.
A GoFundMe organized by Heather Corcoran had raised more than $55,000 by Friday afternoon.

Corcoran wrote that Finn’s death has left “a hole in the lives of her mother, father, brother, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.”
“To know Emily is to love her,” Corcoran wrote. “Through her many years as a dancer, the children she taught as she prepared for a future as a teacher, and simply as a friend to so many, she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.”
Finn had recently ended the relationship over the phone and went to the home to speak with him in person and return some of his belongings, police said.
Finn, who attended SUNY Oneonta, had come home from college for the holiday break and went to the residence to return items after the breakup, according to police.
When Finn arrived at the house, the teen took out a legally owned shotgun, fired once at her, and then shot himself in the face, police said.
The boy’s parents were working in the backyard when the shooting occurred, and his father called 911, police said.
Police said there was no prior domestic history and no previous 911 calls involving the couple.
The teen will be charged with second-degree murder and arraigned at a later date, police said.
