Gunshots Fired After Man Brandishes Gun At Police On Long Island: PD

A man was arrested after waving a gun at police in front of a Long Island home on Sunday, Suffolk police say.

BLUE POINT, NY — Suffolk County police fired shots after a man brandished a gun in a threatening manner outside a Blue Point home on Sunday, police told Patch.

According to police, officers observed a man holding a handgun outside a Boylan Lane home around 4:15 p.m. When police approached him, he brandished the gun at them in a threatening manner and they fired shots, police said.

The man was not injured and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation, police said.

Police said he was charged with menacing a police officer or peace officer and is slated to be arraigned on Monday.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the incident.
