Man Stabbed To Death At Long Island Construction Yard [Video]

A 37-year-old man is charged with murder. Video from the scene Sunday night shows him shirtless and handcuffed.

HOLTSVILLE, NY - One man is dead and another is charged with murder following a stabbing on Long Island Sunday night.

According to Suffolk Police, Francisco Lopez and Florentino Epifanio were involved in an altercation at the Asplundh construction yard located at 192 Long Island Ave. in Holtsville around 7:50 p.m. During the fight, Lopez used a knife to stab Epifanio, 39, twice in the stomach, police said.

Epifanio, of Holtsville, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead.

Lopez then fled the scene, but was soon located nearby and arrested. The 37-year-old lives across the street from the scene at 187 Long Island Ave., police said.

Homicide Squad detectives have charged Lopez with second degree murder. Lopez was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip Monday morning.
