Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Suffolk Crash Tuesday: Police
He was thrown from his motorcycle in the crash, police say.
SAYVILLE, NY — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash with a mini-bus in Sayville Tuesday afternoon, police said.
According to Suffolk County police, the incident took place in the eastbound lane of Sunrise Highway, west of Smithtown Avenue, at about 1:05 p.m.
The driver of the mini-bus, 47, of Queens, was heading eastbound when the vehicle was struck on the rear driver’s side by a 1996 Harley-Davidson motorcycle being driven eastbound by Mark Pizzo, 56, of Lake Ronkonkoma, police said.

Pizzo was thrown from the motorcycle, police said.
He was transported via ambulance to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in Patchogue for treatment of serious physical injuries, police said.

Neither the driver nor an adult passenger on the bus were injured in the crash, police said.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Fifth Squad detectives at 631-854-8552.
