No Injuries In Sayville House Fire
Officials said the fire originated near a basement fireplace.

No one was injured in a house fire in Sayville last week that firefighters said started above a basement fireplace.
The Sayville Fire Department responded to a fire on Saxton Avenue on Nov. 27 around 7:04 p.m. where smoke was visible near the home's rear chimney, fire officials said.
Firefighters opened up the home's rear interior wall and discovered the fire. They stretched two hoses to the read and to extinguish the fire, which they said originated above a basement fireplace and extended through the first floor to the attic.

Sayville Fire Department Engine 1, Engine 2, Brat 3, Engine 4, Engine 5, Rescue 6, Safety 8, Ladder 9, and Fire Police units 14 and 18 all responded to the scene. Assistant Chiefs Reutlinger and Giacoia handled operations.
Sayville Community Ambulance provided EMS coverage at the scene.

The West Sayville Fire Department responded on a mutual aid assignment as the rapid intervention team, and the Bohemia Fire Department and Holbrook Fire Department provided standby coverage at SFD Station 1 with an engine and truck.
On the department's Facebook page, officials reminded the community to have their fireplaces and heating system chimneys professionally cleaned and inspected annually.
