Previous public office, appointive or elective:

Elected Islip Town Tax Receiver, 2011-2020.

Why are you seeking this office?

I am seeking my third term. In addition to continuing to provide outstanding service and representation, I will continue to provide a counter-weight to the out-of-control tax, spending, and over-regulation of our far-left Democrat Party-dominated state government.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I have a record and experience that demonstrates my effective representation.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

The high cost of living on Long Island and public safety are the two most important state-government issues in this campaign.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have provided millions of dollars in grants and aid to my district as well as thousands of successfully concluded constituent cases.

What problems facing your district would you look to solve if you are elected/re-elected?

Addressing the high cost of living, tax relief, and strong support for law-enforcement and criminal justice policies that will take lawbreakers off our streets and keep our communities safe.

Cancer is a prominent health issue for Long Islanders and is a leading cause of death for children. What measures would you take to help lower cancer rates and bolster research in the field?

I have consistently supported legislation to expand screening and insurance coverage for a variety of cancers. For example, I voted in favor of S2465C, which was signed into law this year to expand breast cancer screening for patients who may be more vulnerable.

Locally, I host mobile breast cancer screening trucks that provide services free to anyone who signs up, as well as promoting prostate cancer screenings and pretty much any other cancer awareness and free screening opportunities.

What would you do to help small businesses struggling with inflation and the cost of goods needed to manufacture their products?

Although inflation is a national problem, I do my part to help small businesses here on Long Island by supporting "Buy New York" standards in state procurement contracts, and work to block misguided state government initiatives that drive up costs for small businesses, such as congestion pricing and increases in the MTA payroll tax.

I support local businesses as they have to struggle and compete with Amazon on one hand while also dealing with additional costly regulations imposed by the Democrat majorities in the Legislature. I am also a big promoter of “Shop Small Business” efforts in our downtowns.

Water quality is critical to the region. What plans do you have to help improve water quality and keep it safe for generations?

I strongly support protecting Long Island groundwater. For example I voted in favor of the Suffolk County Water Quality Restoration Act, which was signed into law earlier this year. It creates a fund to support the construction of water quality projects throughout the county.

How can the immigration crisis be addressed at the federal and local level? Can federal and local officials work together?

The immigration crisis is entirely the failure of our federal government to strictly protect our nation's borders from those who seek to enter illegally. Unfortunately, our far-left Democrat Governor and State Legislature's majority support the Biden-Harris Administrations open borders policy and block any attempts by federal and local law enforcement to work together to remove dangerous illegal aliens from our communities. The best way to address this "crisis" is voting out of office all those who support the open borders policy at all levels of government.

I do not support New York’s “sanctuary state” or NYC’s “sanctuary city” policies. Not only is it astronomically expensive for our taxpayers, but it lures people to New York under the promise that they will be provided for, only to be tossed into tents and hotels. It is inhumane and unnecessary, and many of these individuals become targets of human trafficking and other exploitation. Sanctuary status does nothing more than destroy lives.

What can be done about inflation, which some say can be attributed to price gauging?

Inflation is not caused by price-gouging (Kamala Harris has mistakenly referred to it as "price-gauging") but by out-of-control federal government budget deficits that cheapen the value of the dollars we earn and spend. This issue must be addressed on the federal level, but here on Long Island, I am doing what I can to soften the impact of inflation by opposing state government policies that contribute to our region's high cost of living.

The median cost of renting on Long Island falls between $2,000 and $3,100. How can more affordable housing options be created?

The best way to address the housing issue is by opposing state government policies that increase costs mandates and taxes, and promoting the creation of high-paying jobs so that more Long Islanders can afford to stay here.

What is your stance on SALT (State and Local Tax Relief) What needs to be done to keep Long Island streets safe from crime?

We must reverse the ridiculous pro-crime policies imposed by far-left Democrat Governor Hochul and legislative majorities, including repealing so-called "bail reform," restoring civil rights for law enforcement officers, and supporting strong law enforcement initiatives that will remove lawbreakers from our streets.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I will continue to provide my constituents with the best possible service and energetically represent their interests in the State Senate.
