
No one was injured in a crawl space fire in a home on Westgate Drive last week, Sayville Fire Department officials said.
Firefighters responded to the blaze on Dec. 9 at 11:37 a.m. and immediately saw smoke throughout the crawl space and house, fire officials said.
Sayville Engine 4 stretched a line to the exterior crawl space access, where there was a window opening. Firefighters stretched a second line to the front door of the home too and then entered the home and extinguished the fire.

Crews operating on the first floor opened up walls to check for extension, confirming that the fire was successfully contained to the crawl space, officials said.
SFD responded with Engine 1, Engine 2, Brat 3, Engine 4 (first due), Engine 5, Rescue 6, Ladder 9, Safety 10, and Fire Police units 8, 14, and 15.
