Sayville Man Drowns While Out Crabbing In Great South Bay: Suffolk PD
Good samaritans tried to resuscitate the 82-year-old man, but he was pronounced dead by hospital officials.
SAYVILLE, NY — A Sayville native drowned to death Friday afternoon in Great South Bay, according to detectives from the Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad.
Jan Zdenek, 82, was crabbing at the West Sayville docks, but by 2:30 p.m. good samaritans discovered him in the water and attempted to resuscitate him, the police reported.
Zdenek was sent to Southside Hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later, police added.

The investigation into the drowning is ongoing, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.
