Sayville Org To Donate 200 Turkeys To Military & Veteran Families
Families can drive up to the Community Ambulance Company in Sayville to receive a turkey.

SAYVILLE, NY — Numerous local community groups are teaming up to support the military and veterans this Thanksgiving season.
The Community Ambulance Company, in partnership with other organizations, is providing 200 free turkeys to military and veteran families on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at 420 Lakeland Avenue in Sayville.
The even is also sponsored by Suffolk AME (Association of Municipal Employees), Suffolk Police Veterans Association, Miller & Caggiano LLP, The Tap Room, Suffolk Federal Credit Union, Dash Simplified Solutions (DSS) and Lyter Group Inc.

One free 10-14 pound turkey will be provided for the Thanksgiving holiday as "a way to say thank for your service," the ambulance company said in a news release.
The offer is not based on economic needs, so military, veterans and families "should not hesitate to stop by and pick up a Turkey while supplies last."

Recipients can drive up to the location to collect a turkey and other items without the need to exit your vehicle. Sayville Fire Department and Restaurant Depot of Bohemia will also assist with transporting and logistical support of the food items.
In addition to the turkeys, several organizations will be on hand to provide information about job opportunities and services for veterans.
The Suffolk County Department of Fire Rescue & Emergency Services will also be on hand to disseminate information sheets on how veterans can volunteer in the local fire and EMS agencies in the Vets to Vollies program.
Active military, veterans and the general public can also speak to someone from the Suffolk Police Veterans Association (SPVA) and learn how to can join the association.
The LT Michael P. Murphy Navy SEAL Museum board will be on hand to share information about new museum services and programs.
The Connetquot High School and Middle School Volleyball teams will be on hand to give out bags with additional sides and fixings to each of the veterans who attend.
