Sayville Schools Offer Summer Educational Programs

Students Took Part in Music, Art, and Technology Programs

The Sayville School District has consistently provided students with opportunities to continue their educational journeys throughout their summer vacation. This included summer opportunities hosted by the Sayville Music Booster for the Arts (SMBA) and the Research in Science and Engineering (RISE) programs.

Throughout July, music and art students in grades K–12 participated in the SMBA Summer Music & Art Program, now in its third year. Students explored their creativity in fun classes such as chorus, band, jazz band, mixed media, clay, drawing, and watercolor. The music portion of the program culminated with a concert on August 1.

Sayville High School students also took part in the RISE Summer Research Programs, designed to give them a head start on their upcoming research projects and competition preparation. RISE Tech teacher Rick Caskey worked closely with students, providing guidance tailored to their goals as well as vital research ideas. Students participated in a hands-on workshop where they learned safe drone operation, passed the Recreational UAS Safety Test, and earned flight certification. Incoming students were also introduced to Computer-Aided Design software in a 3D printing workshop, where they designed and printed parts using lab-based 3D printers.
