Sayville Starbucks Barista Sings In Company Commercial

Check out the commercial in the story.

When Kayla Stockert was growing up, she loved to sing. But when she started working at Starbucks as a barista, she took a break from music, only playing with her brothers who are also musicians and also work at Starbucks.

To her mother, this sounded like an interesting story for Starbucks: Three siblings who work as baristas aspiring to be musicians.

Starbucks featured the family story in the Starbucks Partner Hub, the company's internal newsletter.

But a couple months later, Stockert, of Sayville, found out someone from corporate was trying to reach her and immediately thought she was in trouble.

"I received a phone call from someone who worked for cooperate Starbucks and they offered me and my siblings an amazing opportunity to be featured on their new upcoming holiday commercial," Stockert said.

And like that, Stockert, who said she had wanted to be a musician her entire life, would now be featured singing in a nationwide Starbucks commercial for its Peppermint Mocha.

"In very short notice, we were able to fly out to California to be featured on the commercial," she said.

While filming the scene, Starbucks offered her a chance to write a song and submit it for a chance to be used in the commercial.

"An opportunity inside of an opportunity," Stockert said. "I agreed to write a song when I got home to New York, I contacted an old producer and asked for help, we wrote the song, and bam - they selected my song to be played in the background. It was the best news of my entire life."
