Sayville's Jack Coan just got one step closer to becoming the starting quarterback for the Wisconsin Badgers next season.
With the departure of Alex Hornibrook, who is transferring, Coan could be slotted in to the starting spot.
Coan played five games last year and three five touchdowns, but lost his redshirt eligibility when he had to fill in due to injuries - but led the Badgers to a dramatic win in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium.

The Badgers were 3-2 in Coan's five starts last year.
In high school, Coan set Long Island records, passing for 9,787 yards and throwing 128 touchdowns. He also rushed for 2,551 yards and scored 33 touchdowns on the ground. He was named the top quarterback in Suffolk County three times.
