Several Pets Die In Sayville House Fire

No one was injured but several pets died in a house fire on Claire Lane in Sayville last night, according to the Sayville Fire Department.

More than 50 firefighters from various departments responded to the blaze, which was put under control in under 30 minutes, fire officials said.

The first arriving units were met with heavy fire on the first floor that burned through to the attic and roof, officials said.

The Sayville Community Ambulance Company and a local veterinarian tried to save the family's pets, but were unsuccessful.

The Bayport Fire Department, Holbrook Fire Department and West Sayville Fire Department all assisted.
