A 38-year-old woman drowned after going overboard in the Great South Bay early Saturday, police said.

According to Suffolk Police, Donna Ramirez, of Mt. Sinai, went overboard from a 2005 Monterey 30-foot-boat about a half mile south of Greene's Creek Marina in Sayville around 12:45 a.m. The owner of the boat, 37-year-old Robert Udle, with assistance from two other people, looked for Ramirez and located her before bringing her onto the boat and calling 911.

Ramirez was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where she was pronounced dead. It's unclear how long she was in the water.
