20, 30 and 40 year olds encouraged to participate in a program to learn how to participate in government
Town Supervisor to mentor our future leaders
Town Supervisor to mentor residents in 20s,30s and 40s who want to learn how to become future town leaders
One of my goals in 2026 is to mentor young adults and residents who want to get involved in government and to share experiences I have had about civic life. I plan to organize some free seminars at Town Hall during the year for residents of all political persuasions.
My goal is to help residents have a better understanding of how their government works and how they can influence decisions. I will discuss personal experiences and observations. Itβs my hope that those who participate in these seminars will want to get more involved in our democracy, in community organizing (when there are issues before different government boards that they have thoughts about). Perhaps, some will consider running for office in the future. This is what democracy is all about βwe need engaged and active citizens.

I will share information with those who participate in the program about existing civic associations, different government appointed boards, commissions and encourage participants to attend Town Board meetings and other government meetings. I will discuss lobbying strategies β how you can get officials to respond to your concerns.
Mentoring young adults (and others who want to get more involved) will give them the tools they need to step into leadership roles in the future. We will discuss problem solving, teamwork, decision making skills , internship opportunity, legislative advocacy and what they need to do if they want to hold a government job or run for office.

I donβt want people to feel disconnected from government. My goal as a mentor is to show residents that your voice as a citizen does matter.
Iβm looking for residents with fresh ideas and new perspectives. I want the next generation of leaders for our town to feel empowered to bring their unique skills and insights to the table.
If you would like to be notified of our first meetings β please e mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com. I want to emphasize that this will be a non partisan effort open to all. There is one goal: to encourage more people to get involved.
