Constantino’s Pizzeria Brings Family-Style Italian Food To Hartsdale

The owner said the combination of Italian food and ice cream was "pandemic proof."

HARTSDALE, NY — A family-owned and operated pizzeria and ice cream shop opened recently in Hartsdale.

Located at 15 E. Hartsdale Ave., Constantino’s Pizzeria and Ice Cream Shop originated in Greenwich, Connecticut, but when Robyn Bordes and her husband Michael opened a new restaurant in Westchester, it was a bit of a homecoming.

Robyn Bordes said in an interview with Patch that she had worked in Hartsdale for more than 20 years and had purchased a restaurant there with her ex-husband.

While she eventually sold him the restaurant, she wanted to return to the town.

Bordes and her new husband jumped at the chance to take over a small place in Hartsdale that had closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic and still had equipment in place.

“I have history and roots in Hartsdale,” she said. “It’s exciting to be back.”

Bordes said the reaction her business has received from the community exceeded her expectations.

“Everyone has been so nice,” she said. “People just stop in to say welcome.”

The Hartsdale restaurant features a range of Italian specialties, including pizza, soups and salads, appetizers, sandwiches, pasta dishes and entrées.

When asked to put together a dinner menu for a family of four, Bordes immediately recommended Kevin’s Chicken Scarpariello, which is chicken in a white wine sauce with sausage, garlic, rosemary and potatoes.

“I love it over pasta,” she said.

Also on the menu would be meat lasagna, a large plain cheese pie and, lastly, the Jimmy salad with chicken cutlets.

“It’s one of our bestselling salads,” Bordes said.

Not content with only one storefront, Constantino’s has taken over a space next door, which should soon see a separate shop for ice cream and desserts.

Bordes said the combination of Italian food and ice cream was “pandemic proof.”

“If you are sad, you want ice cream,” she said. “If you’re happy, you want ice cream.

“It’s the same thing with Italian food,” Bordes said. “Pizza is easy; pizza is affordable.”

She said her goal for the restaurant was continuity.

“We want to be affordable and deliver good food that people can order for their family,” Bordes said.
