How To Work Around Saturday's Road Closure

And don't plan to bike that route, either, unless you're prepared for a two-mile swim and 26-miles run, too.

The U.S. Ironman Championship is closing the south-bound portion of the roadway from 2:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., shuttering one of the region's most-traveled thoroughfares.

It's a turn of events . But whether you're staunchly opposed or glad to see the competition come through, Patch has your best bets for getting around:

North-south travel

9W will take motorists from Tompkins Cove down through Stony Point and West Haverstraw, passing just east of High Tor State Park and just west of Rockland Lake State Park. The roadway splits into Rt. 303 above Hook Mountain, but both routes will take drivers through the Nyacks and down toward Piermont.

Rocklanders who live farther west will want to rely on Rt. 304 on the far-side of DeForest Lake. 304 will take drivers from New City down past Germonds Park and into Bardonia. The route passes through Nanuet and Pearl River before winding its way into New Jersey.
