Police: Four Home Burglaries In Scarsdale

Thieves hit four Scarsdale homes this past week, smashing glass doors and stealing jewelry.
On December 8, Scarsdale Police responded to a Brite Avenue home for a report of a break-in. The homeowners told SPD that after returning home from synagogue, they found their home was broken into and the master bedroom had been ransacked.
The burglar(s) broke a glass pane of a back door, entering the home, and took off with $100 worth of silver dollars, $75 cuff links, keys, a $200 pearl necklace, $200 pair of pearl earrings, $75 pair of silver earrings a $300 wedding band ring, and a box of silver flatware, according to the SPD report.

On December 7, a thief broke into a Carthage Road home. SPD responded to a burglar alarm that was going off and found that the rear, patio door had been shattered and had pry marks on the corner, according to the police report.
Police found a a closed safe on the family room floor, "which appeared recklessly dropped before exiting the residence," according to the police report.

The burglar(s) had ransacked the master bedroom, emptying drawers and tossing jewelry on the floor.
Also on December 7, thieves hit a Greenacres Avenue home. The homeowner told SPD that when she returned home, her kitchen door was open.
She walked upstairs, noticing mail dropped on the floor, and found a jewelry box in the bedroom missing items, according to the police report.
She took her two children, left the home and called police. SPD responded and searched the home. The resident told SPD she did not activate her burglar alarm before she had left and may have forgotten to lock the kitchen door's deadbolt, according to the police report.
Lastly, a Walworth Avenue resident reported to police that her home was broken into between December 4-7. After returning home, she noticed jewelry missing.
According to the police report, the thief stole $100 pair of gold earrings, $150 pair of gold and diamond earrings and a platinum and diamond chain worth $800.
The resident and her husband noticed two living room doors to be open and called police.
Police are investigating all four cases.
