Scarsdale Cops: Prank Call; 'Someone Walked My Dog'

Local police respond to a slate of recent calls and incidents.

A Scarsdale family is struggling with the capers of a persistent prank caller, local cops said.

A 61-year-old Dickel Road resident told police last week that a mysterious number calls several times late at night, and has been doing so for weeks. When the man answers, he hears murmuring on the other end of the line, police said.

The family and phone company are unable to block the number, police said, and efforts to dial back result in a "call can not be completed" message.

By filing a police report, the phone company will now be able to trace the phantom number. Police are treating the incident as aggravated harassment in the second degree, a misdemeanor.

A Scarsdale woman phoned cops after she found items in her home rearranged, authorities said.

The 55-year-old Hutchinson Avenue resident told police last Tuesday that someone had entered her home and moved around her medication and various sundries in her kitchen, according to reports.

The woman also told cops that someone had tried to walk her dog—the leashes were in a different place than before, she said.

Police checked her residence for possible signs of a break-in, but found nothing; officers patroled her neighborhood later that night as a precaution.
