- A vice chair and a chair selected from among the previous year’s outgoing SBNC members. Jonathan Tamir is chair, with Erin Foster vice chair.

The committee met over seven Sundays to select candidates based “solely on their qualifications to serve the community” as prescribed by the SBNC resolution.

"The SBNC had the good fortune of selecting from a group of very well qualified individuals seeking to devote their time and talents to serving on the Scarsdale Board of Education," according to a statement from the group. "We thank all the applicants for the time and effort put forth in their candidacies. Their participation enriched the process immensely."

Scarsdale maintains a nonpartisan election process for school board, designed to select board members based on their qualifications.

"Indeed, “it takes a village” of dedicated Scarsdalians to make our nonpartisan process so effective," according to the group. "Moreover, we can ensure the highest quality school board only through a dynamic election process thereby safeguarding the continued success of our schools. We therefore encourage all residents to consider running for the 2014 SBNC and think about suggesting candidates for the school board next year."

Tuesday, May 21, is the date for Scardale's school board election and for balloting on the 2013-2014 school budget proposal.
