Scarsdale Prepping For Hurricane Sandy
The Village of Scarsdale is getting ready for any storm-related issues coming our way on Monday.

As forecasters are busy analyzing Hurricane Sandy's track and residents are pulling in outdoor furniture, the Village of Scarsdale is set to handle the potential strike of another October storm.
Scarsdale Police Chief John Brogan said that each Scarsdale department (police, fire and DPW) "has its own protocol for preparing for a storm. The Village Manager’s Office coordinates the efforts of the three departments and if the situation warrants, an Emergency Operations Center will be opened at Public Safety HQ."
The village is preparing for the "worst case scenario," John Goodwin of the Village Manager's Office said.

So far, there are no plans to open the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) or storm shelter in Scarsdale, according to Goodwin. However, "as the forecast progresses the village will re-evaluate if an EOC or shelter are necessary and act appropriately."
The new Public Safety Building would be the location of the EOC, and runs on back-up generators. Residents can rest assured that all the emergency departments will have power sources and be able to reach out to residents via phone and email.
The latest National Weather Service Hazardous Weather Statement is predicting some Hurricane Sandy-related issues for Scarsdale, including flooding and downed power lines.
"There is increasing confidence that the tri-state area will feel the impacts of a dangerous coastal storm late this weekend into early next week," the NWS stated.
On Sunday night or Monday morning, the Scarsdale School District would issue a cancellation, if the weather situation warrants school closures.
The school community receives notification via phone, email and text alerts, according to Public Information Officer Vicki Presser. The information would also be posted on the district website and local cable, (Cablevision 77 / Verizon FIOSÂ 27.)
