Bob Steves, Scarsdale's New Mayor, Sworn In

Newly-elected mayor Bob Steves and trustee Thomas Martin swear oaths.

Standing in front of a crowd of about one dozen lawmakers and residents, Scarsdale's new mayor, Bob Steves, was sworn in Monday afternoon as the village's new leader.

Steves, a member of the village's non-partisan party, ran unopposed and received 235 votes in last month's local election. He will replace mayor Miriam Levitt Flisser.

"All the time I've been in Scarsdale, I've been energized and encouraged by people who volunteer," Steves said on the heels of a brief ceremony, referring to the village's panel of trustees. "The volunteers share one common hope: that what we do, individually and collectively, is going to make this community a better place to live."
