Scarsdale School Budget Proposes An Increase
The school budget rises by 1.63 percent but remains under tax cap amount

Scarsdale School District residents can vote on an increase to the 2016-17 school budget on May 17. The district proposes an increase that remains under the tax cap amount.
- Proposed Budget Total for 2016-17: $150,454,297
- Budget to Budget Change: 1.63 percent
The actual tax levy differs by 0.63 percent. The allowable tax levy per cap calculation is 0.81 percent.
District enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year is projected to drop slightly from 4,808 students to 4,802. The projected K-5 enrollment is expected to increase by thee pupils at the elementary school level, from the current 2,101 pupils to 2,104. Senior High School enrollment is projected to decrease by 8 pupils from 1,534 to 1,526.

The proposed budget funds will be allocated to school and playground repair, as well as supporting various school programs.
Leila Maude, William Natbony, and Nina Ledis Cannon are also running for positions on the Scarsdale Board of Education. If elected Maude and Natbony will return to the School Board for their second three-year terms. Cannon will fill the seat vacated by Suzanne Seiden, who ends her final Board term at the end of the 2016 school year.

Residents can vote on the budget from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 17 in the Middle School Gym.
