• Man admits to role in deadly Schenectady shooting (cbs6albany.com) — A Schenectady man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the April 23 shooting of Wilfredo Vasquez outside a Van Vranken Avenue bodega, and will serve 18 years to life in state prison. Prosecutors say he fled to New York City after the killing but later surrendered, with surveillance video and an eyewitness helping identify him. The plea was entered Monday in Schenectady County Court, and he waived his right to appeal.
   

• Attorney General James Wins Trial for St. Clare's Pensioners (einpresswire.com) — A Schenectady County jury has found the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany and former St. Clare’s Hospital leaders liable for mishandling the hospital’s pension plan, awarding $54.2 million to 1,124 pensioners. The case, tried before a Schenectady Supreme Court justice, focused on years of alleged mismanagement and misleading statements about workers’ retirement benefits, with a separate trial still to come on punitive damages.
   

• Knox College names Scott Jones as new chief financial officer and VP for finance (wgil.com) — A senior finance leader from Union College in Schenectady is heading to Knox College in Illinois to become its new chief financial officer and vice president for finance in February. The move highlights Union’s role in developing higher-ed leadership, as Scott Jones leaves after several years overseeing administration, finance, and operations there.
