2 Men Seriously Injured In Single-Vehicle Crash

The SUV left the roadway and crashed into trees in Yaphank Tuesday morning, police say.

YAPHANK, NY — Two men were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in Yaphank Tuesday morning, police said.

According to Suffolk County Police, the. crash took place in the westbound lane of the Sunrise Highway, a half mile east of Exit 57 in Yaphank, at 9:30 a.m.

A 33-year-old man was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox west on Sunrise Highway when the vehicle left the roadway and struck trees, police said.

The driver and his 32-year-old male passenger were transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

Their names were withheld pending notification of next of kin.
