Brookhaven Holiday Offerings: Train Shows, Santa, Tree Lighting
This year's Town of Brookhaven holiday event calendar is jam-packed. Festivities kick off Monday with a menorah lighting. Get the details.

BROOKHAVEN, NY—The Town of Brookhaven has released its schedule of holiday events, and it's a full one. After the pandemic, in-person gatherings have made a comeback. Here's Patch's guide to the family-friendly events.
Menorah lighting
On Monday, Nov. 29, 6 p.m., at Brookhaven Town Hall, 1 Independence Hill, Farmingville, there will be latkes, donuts and menorah activities. This event is free.

Hot chocolate with Santa
On Saturday, Dec. 4, Santa Claus will be visiting the Longwood Estate in Ridge. Kids can snap their photo with Santa and deliver their letters. There will be hot chocolate served, and Brookhaven Town is asking attendees to bring new, unwrapped toys to donate. $5 per child.

Holiday Toy Drive
If you can't make it to see Santa, drop off a gift for the INTERFACE Toy Drive for children in need atBrookhaven Town Hall on Dec. 10, 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Christmas Tree Lighting
The Christmas tree at the Holtsville Ecology Site lights up on Friday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. There will be characters in costume to meet, and Santa is due to arrive by helicopter.
Holiday Train Display
A holiday train display will be open to the public from Dec. 12 to 18, and then from Dec. 26 to 31, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the historic Longwood Estate. Kids can play an "I Spy" game to find hidden items in the train display.
