'Lockdown' Enacted At William Floyd High School: School District

A lockdown was enacted at William Floyd School High School​ Friday afternoon, according to district officials.

MASTIC BEACH, NY — Suffolk police responded to a lockdown enacted at William Floyd School High School Friday afternoon, according to a message sent to parents.

The statement said the lockdown happened around 1:45 p.m. and "may have been caused by a malfunction in the system."

According to the statement, "Police responded quickly and conducted a sweep of the building and found no threat whatsoever."

"However, we are still working to determine the exact cause. Once that is known, we will share it with the community immediately," the statement said.

As a result of the high school dismissal occurring later, busing home was delayed in all buildings at the middle schools and elementary schools.
