Long Island Rail Road Train Strikes, Kills Woman: MTA
Metropolitan Transportation Authority police were notified at about 2 p.m., a spokesman said.
SHIRLEY, NY — A woman was struck and killed by a train on the Long Island Rail Road tracks just west of the Mastic-Shirley station, on Tuesday afternoon, a Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesperson said.
MTA police were notified that the 2 p.m. train from Speonk to Jamaica struck an "unauthorized person," and one westbound train, the 2:48 p.m. from Montauk to Jamaica, was delayed at Speonk, he said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a spokesman. Her identity has not been released by the MTA.

The investigation is ongoing, but there there is no criminality suspected, according to the MTA.
The spokesman could not confirm that the strike happened at the crossing at Old Stump Road in Brookhaven.
