Man Arrested After Shooting Someone In Suffolk Driveway: Police

He shot him in the leg, police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A man was arrested after shooting someone in a Shirley driveway Thursday, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the incident took place at a residence on Seymour Drive. Edward Perry, 40, walked up to the driver’s side window of a 2021 BMW parked in the driveway and shot a man sitting in the driver’s seat in the leg at about 1:35 a.m., police said.

A woman sitting in the front passenger seat was not injured, police said. The man fled in a gray vehicle, police said.

After an investigation, Seventh Squad detectives arrested Perry on Hoffman Avenue in Bellport at about 3 p.m., police said.

The man who was shot was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries, police said. The BMW was impounded.

Perry, of Poospatuck Lane in Mastic, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, police said. He will be held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday, police said.
