SHIRLEY, NY — The Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Library will temporarily relocate in June while renovations continue to the main library building in Shirley. Beginning June 6, the main library will move to the Mastic Recreation Center at 15 Herkimer St.

The improvement project, financed by a $22.7 million bond approved in December 2019, will also construct two satellite branches in Mastic Beach and Moriches. The temporary move of the main library services is designed to keep the construction work on time and under budget, as the main building at 407 William Floyd Parkway is renovated.

Due to building supply delays and pandemic-related delays, the library announced last week, the building of the two satellite branches has been delayed. The Mastic Beach site is now due to open in October and Moriches in December. Once the two satellite branches are open, the main library services will be at those two sites until the main building's 18-month-long renovation is complete.
