The Suffolk County Legislature’s “Woman of Distinction” honor recognizes extraordinary women every March during Women’s History Month. Each legislator is given an opportunity to recognize a “Woman of Distinction” within their district and honor her for all of her efforts to improve the community.
Officer Pollio began her career with the Suffolk County Police Department in 2010 as a Patrol Officer. For the past 7 years she has been working as the school resource officer for the 7th precinct as well as with the Community Oriented Police Enforcement Unit (COPE) and as a Community Liaison Officer (CLO).
Working with the local youth and families within the community she serves is one of Stacie’s true passions. Officer Pollio, along with her fellow co-workers created a not-for-profit called 7th Precinct Community Unity, which raises money so that police officers can host functions for children within our community. These functions include the annual Thanksgiving food drive where they were able to give over 1,000 families’ complete meals for the holiday, breakfast with Santa, pumpkin picking, charter boat excursions, barbeques and sporting events, and many other charitable events which provide assistance to struggling families in our community.
As a testament to her work, in 2022 Officer Pollio received the Suffolk County Police Department’s Timothy Henke Award for her outstanding accomplishments.
“I am very proud to honor Officer Pollio. She inspires others through her work as a Police Officer, her volunteerism, and her charitable efforts within the communities which she both lives and serves,” said Mazzarella. “Officer Pollio truly encompasses everything that defines a Woman of Distinction and an outstanding member of our community.”
