Pedestrian Critically Injured After Being Struck In Shirley: Police

The crash took place Sunday night, police said.

SHIRLEY, NY — A pedestrian was critically injured in a Shirley crash Sunday night, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place at the intersection of William Floyd Parkway and Montauk Highway at 11:05 p.m.

Christopher Thompson, 34, of Mastic, was on foot crossing William Floyd Parkway from west to east at the intersection of Montauk Highway when he was struck by a northbound 2017 Nissan SUV, police said.

Thompson was airlifted via police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition, police said. The driver of the Nissan, a 53-year-old woman from Shirley, was not injured, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
