LONG ISLAND, NY — Detectives are asking residents in the area surrounding former U.S. congressman and Donald Trump cabinet-pick Lee Zeldin's home on Long Island, where there was a bomb threat Wednesday, to review their security camera footage as they conduct "a confidential investigation," according to a post on Ring's Neighbor app.

The post says Suffolk police are investigating around the area of St. George Drive in Shirley, and asks that residents review their camera footage between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday "for any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area."

It asks that residents with any information or video reach out to Det. Zuckerman at jessezuckerman@suffolkcountyny.gov.

In a statement, Zeldin confirmed he and his family were targeted Wednesday morning in a pipe bomb threat that contained a pro-Palestinian-themed message.

Officers responded to his home just before 9 a.m., and Emergency Service Section officers checked the property, a Suffolk police spokesman said.

Zeldin said he and his family were not home at the time and they are safe.

"We are working with law enforcement to learn more as this situation develops," he said. "We are thankful for the swift actions taken by local officers to keep our family, neighbors, and local community secure.”

Zeldin was tapped to lead the Environmental Protection Agency earlier this month.

News 12 reported that other Trump cabinet picks were also targeted.

In a statement to the outlet, Trump's transition team said, "Law enforcement acted quickly to ensure the safety of those who were targeted. President Trump and the entire transition team are grateful for their swift action."

It is not the first time that Suffolk police have responded to Zeldin's house.

In 2022, two people were shot outside his home while his teen daughters were reportedly doing their homework inside.

The shooter in the incident was recently sentenced to 12 years in prison.
