- Teacher and sculptor Frank Porcu, from Mastic Beach, showcased his talents on a President Abraham Lincoln sculpture first displayed on April 6 at the New York Historical Society in Manhattan. The sculpture received numerous positive reviews from the historians who participated in the event. (Newsday/Subscription Required)
- A home fire on Mastic Boulevard left one person injured. According to police, the fire started in the kitchen, but no confirmation of the cause of the fire was released. The victim was transported to Stony Brook Hospital by helicopter to be treated. (Patch)
