Smith Point Bridge 5K Run For Literacy Slated For Saturday

SHIRLEY, NY — The 21st annual Smith Point Bridge 5K Run for Literacy is Saturday.
Pre-registration is $25 online, but you can also participate virtually or just make a donation.

Same-day registration for the race is 7:30 a.m. in the park's parking lot and will cost $30. The starter pistol is at 9 a.m. in the parking lot. The race will go over the bridge and back before stopping at the TWA Flight 800 Memorial.

Runners and walkers of all ages and levels are welcome to join in the fun.
"Enjoy running a fabulous coastal route to raise money for literacy," organizers wrote on the event's website. "The historic Smith Point Bridge is the focal point, offering a panoramic ocean vista; the finish line is at the beach."
