Suffolk Police To Join With Community At St. Baldrick's Day Event Thursday

It's in honor of a William Floyd School District's employee's daughter who has been battling pediatric cancer, school officials said.

SHIRLEY, NY — A group of Suffolk police will shave their locks in support of a St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser on Thursday in honor of a school employee’s daughter who has been battling pediatric cancer, school officials said.

Both the officers and members of the community will have their heads or beards shaved by William Floyd High School Barbering Academy students at William Floyd Elementary School in Shirley.

Participants include elementary school Principal Keith Fasciana, school district employees and students, as well as police Capt. Peter Ervolina and officers from the 3rd and 7th precincts.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon at 111 Lexington Ave.
