'We Love You So Much': Family Of Father Who Died In Crash Needs Help

SHIRLEY, NY — The community is coming together to wrap its arms around a local family after a devastating crash took the life of a young father, Nicholas DeMaio, 25, of Shirley, Sunday night.

"Last night our family suffered an unimaginable loss," Annamarie DeMaio wrote on a GoFundMe page, "Nicholas DeMaio". "My brother in-law tragically passed away in a car accident. Nicholas was a father to two babies Xander, 1, and Harley, 10 months, a devoted husband to his wife Victoria, an amazing son, and the best brother you could ask for," she said. "The world is a lesser place without him here. There are simply no words for this."

She added: "Being that Nick and Victoria are a young family, in lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations at this time. All of the funds raised will be given to Nick's children and his wife."

Hearts are broken with loss, DeMaio said. "Nick, we all love you so much. You will always be my little brother. I love you and will always be here for your children and Victoria."

According to Suffolk County Police, the crash took place at 6:34 p.m. in Yaphank.

"Thank you for all the condolences," the DeMaio family wrote.
