William Floyd Star Student: Caitlyn 'Makes The World A Better Place'
She struggles with visual impairment; has started a non-profit-501c3 to help children who are blind, visually impaired, or chronically ill.

MASTIC, NY — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages, and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Kim Swicicki who nominated her daughter, Caitlyn of the William Floyd School District.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
She struggles with a visual impairment and has started a non-profit-501c3 to help children who are blind, visually impaired, or chronically Ill. To date, she has helped pay for eyeglasses, collected over 5,000 pairs of used glasses, provided scholarships, and advocated for a safer society for children.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Despite her own struggles and illnesses, she fights every day to make the world a better place.
