While the NoHo location is new, Bright Horizons as a child care provider has been trusted by families around the world to provide care and education for their children for more than 30 years. In more than 1,000 child care centers in the United States and beyond, they offer the highest-quality care and learning that delivers both the solution working parents need, and the classroom experiences children deserve to get ready for school and become enthusiastic learners for life.

Patch: How long have you been doing business in town, or how long has your organization been around in the community?
Dickey: Bright Horizons has been a leader in the field of early childhood education since 1986. While the NoHo location is new to the neighborhood, we are well versed in group care and pride ourselves on our practices and philosophies that have been implemented at Bright Horizons child care centers for years. Bright Horizons at NoHo will open in January 2022, but prior to our opening families can take an in-person or virtual visit of the center.

Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?
Dickey: As a preteen and teenager, I did a lot of babysitting and it turned into a passion for early education. While I was in college, I started working at Bright Horizons as an assistant teacher and have been here ever since!
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?
Dickey: Exceptional early education and preschool.
Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Dickey: The most satisfying part of my job is being able to partner with parents and families during the most precious years of their child’s life.

Patch: How would you say your business distinguishes itself from the others?
Dickey: Bright Horizons has been operating for more than 30 years. Because of our experience in early education, we provide a well-rounded version of group care where the whole child is cared for socially, emotionally and physically. Our proven emergent curriculum reflects the latest research on early education. We provide a variety of family resources for parents and caregivers to feel engaged and connected.
Bright Horizons also values our teachers’ professional development and offers a variety of benefits to help our teachers grow professionally, including our Horizons Teacher Degree Program, which allows our teachers to earn a degree in early education that is completely paid for by Bright Horizons.
I think it also important to mention that we have industry-leading COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Dickey: Success can only be measured by each individual. When other people are valuing your success it could turn into something that you actually don’t value, but is being projected onto you.
Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about? If so, what details can you share and what makes it so exciting?
Dickey: Being that we are new to the NoHo neighborhood we are excited to start getting to know our neighbors and becoming part of the community!
Patch: How can Patch readers learn more about your work and business?
Dickey: We are located at 704 Broadway, right near the heart of NYU’s campus. You can find us at our website, Facebook page or you can call us at 646-677-8570 to schedule a private family visit.
