Bridgehampton Man Arrested After Knife Altercation On Highway: PD

BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY — A Bridgehampton man was arrested Tuesday morning after threatening two people with a knife and damaging their vehicle, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at 10:11 a.m. Police responded to a report of a dispute between two people in the roadway on Montauk Highway near Corwith Avenue in Bridgehampton, police said.
Brian K. Conforti, 55,had gotten into an altercation with two individuals in a passing vehicle as he was walking on Montauk Highway, police said. During the altercation, Conforti threatened them with a small pocket knife and then damaged their vehicle with the knife, police said.

Conforti was arrested at the scene and then transported to Southampton Town police headquarters, where he was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony; second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor; and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, police said.
He was held overnight for morning arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court.
