2 Accused Of Possessing, Promoting Child Sexual Performance From Hudson Valley Homes: Sheriff
The NYSP Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a cyber tip about sexually explicit videos and images sent from Carmel.
CARMEL, NY — Separate investigations led to disturbing allegations against two Putnam County men, according to law enforcement officials.
Putnam County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville said two Carmel residents were arrested after the separate investigations into internet child pornography.
In April 2025, Sheriff's Office investigators were alerted by the New York State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force of a cyber tip about sexually explicit videos and images that were being transmitted from homes in Putnam County. An investigation then began, which included gathering computer forensic evidence through subpoenas.

On June 12, a search warrant was executed at the home of 55-year-old Richard Schwabedissen. He was interviewed and charged with three felony counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child under the age of 17, and three felony counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child under the age of 16. He was arraigned in the Town of Carmel Court, and released on his own recognizance with a future court date.
On June 19, 24-year-old Alex Jimenez Cochancela was arrested. He was charged with felony promoting a sexual performance by a child under the age of 17, and felony possessing a sexual performance by a child under the age of 16. He was arraigned in the Town of Carmel Court, with bail set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.
