54-Year-Old Driver Killed In Fiery Taconic Crash Is ID'd By Police
The Rav4 he was driving hit a rock embankment and became fully engulfed in flames, according to accident investigators.

PUTNAM VALLEY, NY — The driver killed in a fiery crash on the Taconic has been identified by police.
New York State Police announced on Tuesday that they responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash around 11:50 a.m. on November 27. The crash took place on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Putnam Valley.
An initial investigation found that the driver of a 2017 Toyota Rav4, 58-year-old Michael Fitzgerald, of Fishkill, had been traveling southbound, just south of Route 301, and left the roadway for unknown reasons.

The Rav4 hit a rock embankment and became fully engulfed in flames.
Fitzgerald was pronounced dead at the scene by the Putnam Valley Fire Department and Empress EMS paramedics.
