Anesthesiologist Accused Of Sex Abuse, Assault: Sheriff
Putnam County Sheriff's deputies arrested the Southeast resident Dec. 30.
PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — A resident of Southeast is accused of committing a series of sexual assaults in December.
On Dec. 29, Sheriff’s Investigators were told that a woman had been given anesthesia without her knowledge and was subsequently sexually assaulted.
Through interviews with the woman, investigators learned that the suspect was an anesthesiologist with access to various drugs, Putnam County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville said.

They interviewed and then arrested Paul M. Giacopelli Dec. 30, whom police identified as an anesthesiologist with Northwell Health who had privileges at Putnam Hospital Center.
The 59-year-old faces four counts of first degree sexual abuse and second degree assault, felonies.

He was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court and sent to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $150,000 cash bail or $500,000 bond, police said.
