Head-On Crash On Wood Street Kills 1, Injures 3

A Mahopac 23-year-old driving north crossed into the path of a southbound car driven by a Lake Peekskill teen, police said.

PUTNAM VALLEY, NY — A Mahopac 23-year-old died Tuesday in a head-on crash on Wood Street, Putnam County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville reported.

A Lake Peekskill 18-year-old and one of his passengers, a 17-year-old Putnam Valley girl, were airlifted to Westchester Medical Center with serious injuries. The third passenger in the car was a 15-year-old from Putnam Valley. She was taken by ambulance to WMC.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the crash near Meadow Crest Drive at 8:55 p.m. They and Putnam Valley Fire Department members began extricating and providing medical aid for the four occupants of the two vehicles.

The driver of the first vehicle, Bryan Tumolo of Mahopac, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Tumolo was northbound on Wood Street when his car crossed over into the path of a southbound vehicle, McConville said.

The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit assisted Sheriff's deputies and Investigators. Members of the Carmel Police Department also assisted at the scene.
