Mahopac-Carmel Chamber Welcomes Four New Directors

Carl Garofolo Jr., Larry Zacks, John Malzone and Robert DeLucia will each serve a three-year term on the 11-member board.

MAHOPAC, N.Y. - The membership of The Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce voted four new directors to its board at its monthly meeting held on Tuesday, April 26 at Four Brothers Restaurant in Mahopac. Carl Garofolo Jr., Larry Zacks, John Malzone and Robert DeLucia will each serve a three-year term on the 11-member board.

DeLucia is a Mahopac graduate who owns two local businesses—Local Boys Junk Removal and Picker’s Paradise. He has been a chamber member since 2014 and has recruited a number of other businesses to join the organization.

“I have a passion for making this community look and feel better,” said DeLucia, who thinks beautification of the Route 6 corridor should be a priority for the Chamber. “I hope my skills as a hands-on, self-starter can help chamber as an active board member.”

Garofolo, a Poughkeepsie resident is a Community Relations Specialist for Fidelis Care, which offers free or low-cost comprehensive health insurance for people of all ages and at all stages of life. A Chamber member for the past three years, Garofolo has been on the Expo/BizCon Committee as well as the Street Fair Committee.

“I hope to work with my fellow board members and the general membership of the Chamber in order to promote local business to consumers in Putnam County and encourage an increase in a ‘shop local first’ mentality,” said Garofolo. “I also want to increase the membership of the Chamber so that it continues to grow vibrant and stable and to remain financially successful. I am open and willing to listen to all positive suggestions, ideas and input that will support these goals and make them a reality.”

Malzone, owner of Custom Interior Remodeling, has been a Mahopac resident since 1992. In addition to being an active Chamber member, he is the president of his homeowner’s association board.

“I want to be a part of making the Chamber bigger and better than ever,” Malzone said.

Zacks is a realtor for Re/Max Classic, who has been in the industry for over 30 years. A lifelong resident of the Mahopac community, he is involved with many local groups and committees. A longtime member of the Chamber, Zacks is on its Legislative Advocacy Board.

“I look forward to promoting business, moving our town forward and with everyone cooperating see our taxes stabilized,” Zacks said.

Outgoing Chamber Chairman, Vincent D’Ambroso, thinks that the diverse skills and knowledge that the new directors bring to the board will help the Chamber as it continues to grow.

“I am looking forward to working with our new directors,” said D’Ambroso.

With over 400 direct members, The Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce is the largest chamber of commerce in Putnam County. Its mission is to advance economic development in the Mahopac-Carmel area by promoting member businesses as well as sponsoring community, cultural, and business events.
