Mahopac residents have until 9 p.m. to vote for the library budget and three board of trustee candidates.
The Mahopac Public Library is proposing a budget of $2,747,864 for 2013/2014. The budget for 2012-2013 was $2,669,187. That would mean an average household increase of 59 cents each month, according to library literature.
Most--about 69-percent--of the library's spending goes to programs and services. Approximately 20-percent is allocated for debt services. The rest goes to buildings and grounds (an 8-percent chunk) and administrative costs (just under 2-percent).
Four candidates are running for three board of trustee spots:
